September is Healthy Aging Month, and we are raising awareness about the health and well-being of older adults. We want to use this time to celebrate life and the positive aspects of getting older. As we age, we become aware that our health needs change over time, and steps can be taken to age with a healthy body and mind. Follow some of these tips for healthy aging. Check out our post on Instagram, too!

  • Stay Active(1)
    • Physical activity can help older adults prevent both chronic disease and fall-related injuries but it is important to remember to talk to your doctor first.
    • Make your physical activity fun and something you enjoy doing!
  • Maintain a Healthy Diet(2)
    • Good nutrition is key to staying healthy, active, and independent as you get older.
    • Eat a variety of foods from each food group and stay hydrated. Be sure to choose foods with little to no added sugar, saturated fats, and sodium.
  • Talk With Your Doctor(1)
    • Remember to receive regular checkups, and physical and medical tests when needed to catch early signs of disease.
  • Quit Smoking(3)
    • Quitting smoking is one of the most important things you can do for your health.
    • Quitting will lower your risk of cancer, heart attack, stroke, and lung disease.
  • Take Care of Your Mental Health(4)
    • Stay connected with others to help boost your mood and overall well-being.
    • Manage stress with meditation techniques, physical activities, and by participating in activities you enjoy.
