Earlier this year, a new addition to the John A. Burns School of Medicine campus was the Ko Iki Mini Museum, installed by JABSOM alumna Dr. Kathryn Ko. Inspired by the free petite library movement, this unique structure aims to make art accessible to everyone.
Dr. Ko, a neurosurgeon and artist, believes art should be approachable. The museum features miniature pieces of artwork, showcasing the connection between art and healing. “Sometimes people get intimidated going into a museum, so my idea was to bring the museum to them,” she explains.

As part of the project, you can find the Ko Iki Kiosk in the Health Sciences Library. Participate by picking up a miniature canvas to create your art in any medium (2D pieces under 5 inches and 3D pieces under 8 inches). Just make sure to place your artwork in the Art Drop-Off drawer along with the submission card.
