Before using Rayyan, all collaborators need to sign up for individual accounts.
Click the "Get Started" button on the Rayyan homepage to sign up.
You can check your browser compatibility before logging into your account.
Click "Create New Review" from the home screen to create a new review. Give the review a Title and Description. Select a Review Type and Review Domain.
For the free version of Rayyan, you are limited to 3 active reviews.
There is only one owner for each review, also called the review owner.
Only the review owner can invite collaborators and change the blind setting.
More about blinding can be found on the Collaboration page.
Rayyan supports a wide array of industry-standard file formats and file types, so you can now upload searches from different databases in any accepted "reference format." View this article from Rayyan for step-by-step migration guides to export data from popular sources with examples of supported file formats and types. Guides include Cochrane, EndNote, PubMed, and Web of Science.
Note that Rayyan allows importing 10 files at a time of 100MB per file, allowing 1GB to be imported simultaneously.
Some databases may not export in any of these standard reference formats. In this case, we advise different approaches depending on your context:
For other databases, please contact hslinfo@hawaii.edu if you require assistance.
You can add new references/articles to an ongoing review. In the Review Data tab, click Add References. Select the file(s) you want to add, ensuring they are in the correct format.
NOTE: We recommend completing all your database searches, importing all records into a citation management package such as Endnote, and deduplicating your records before importing them into Rayyan.
You can delete an entire import but not individual items. To delete an entire import, click the trash icon next to the imported reference you are deleting. Note that this action cannot be undone, and any notes made will be permanently lost. |

We strongly recommend removing duplicate records using citation management software such as EndNote or Zotero. Rayyan also offers an option to detect duplicates. After the duplicate detection process is complete, you will be shown the number of duplicates found. When resolving duplicates, you can compare them side by side and choose to keep the left article, the right article, or both. Be sure to carefully review the articles Rayyan compares to ensure accurate and efficient duplicate management.
