Disability in Medicine Certificate of Distinction

Learning Objectives:

After completing the requirements of the Deanʻs Certificate of Distinction (COD) in Disability, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of background information on disability, e.g., models, social etiquette, history, etc. 
  2. Discuss the relationship between disability and health
  3. Apply knowledge of disabilities to clinical experiences 
  4. Develop, complete, and present a project to do with disability and health 
    1. Research project on a disability-causing pathology
    2. Medical education curriculum component development 
    3. Advocacy project at the state level or beyond
    4. Other pre-approved project 
  5. Demonstrate leadership and mentoring skills in the context of curriculum projects, student interest groups, and/or volunteer organizations
