Cancer can start almost anywhere in the body; it is a disease where some of the body’s cells grow uncontrollably and spread to other parts of the body. In a process known as cell division, human cells grow and multiply to form new cells as the body requires them. New cells replace old ones when they die due to aging and damage. Sometimes, this process fails, causing damaged or abnormal cells to multiply when they shouldn’t, forming lumps of tissue called tumors. Tumors can be cancerous or not cancerous (benign).
