Finding a way to finance your college education can be stressful. Student loans are convenient but can result in crushing debt later. (I can only imagine the amount of money it takes to get through med school o.o) That's why the NSPA sponsors National Scholarship Month each November.

November is National Scholarship Month. As an institution of higher education, one of our goals is to help all students get to and through college. That's why the National Scholarship Providers Association (NSPA) promotes this month to build awareness of the availability of scholarships. It is also a great time to begin the scholarship application process if you still need to. Can you imagine not being in crushing debt?

UH offers a variety of scholarship opportunities. Scholarships can vary between campuses within UH, so students are encouraged to look for scholarships through their home campus financial aid office. Check out the different scholarships UH offers: https://www.hawaii.edu/tuition/scholarships/

STAR, UH's registration system, has UH Manoa-specific scholarships. According to STAR's scholarship page, over $8 million was awarded to 2618 Manoa students last year. To check out the different scholarships, log on to STAR (https://www.star.hawaii.edu/studentinterface/). At the top right, click on the link for "Scholarships" and sign in with your UH credentials. Most scholarship applications through STAR are open from November 15 to February 15, while others offered by UH have different deadlines, so remember to check!

JABSOM also has a variety of scholarship opportunities, from Recruitment Scholarships to Native Hawaiian Ancestry Scholarships. Click HERE to see what scholarship opportunities JABSOM has to offer. Remember that scholarship deadlines may differ so be sure to check to avoid missing out.

So make a plan, set clear goals, and research the scholarships of your choice. Then, apply, apply, apply!
