Location & Directions
The Health Sciences Library is on the campus of the University of Hawai‘i John A. Burns School of Medicine in Kaka‘ako. The Library is located on the ground floor of the Medical Education Building (MEB) at 651 Ilalo Street in the Kaka‘ako waterfront area of Honolulu, Hawai‘i.

LOT C Parking – Public Visitors & JABSOM Staff
Daily guests and JABSOM employees with a valid parking pass/permit are allowed to park in Lot C. Daily guests are expected to pay the daily rate of $5 by depositing the exact amount into a pay meter box for the numbered parking stall. Guests park in a numbered stall only or risk being towed. Guests include State vehicles and UHM parking permit holders. Note: There are no in-and-out privileges with the daily rate. The gate is open all week from:
6:00AM – midnight
JABSOM employees with valid parking permits park in the unnumbered stalls only. Parking permits are required to be displayed in the vehicle’s windshield area.
Vehicles not adhering to these rules will be towed by Hook-Up Towing (1-808-486-4665) at 889 Ahua Street.
As a reminder, ParkPro does not provide security. Please call 911 immediately in an emergency situation. After calling 911, please also follow-up by calling ParkPro offices at 1-808-971-7755 to report the situation. Suspicious persons should also be reported. Parking matters and questions can be directed to the same ParkPro phone number.
JABSOM Auxiliary Lot at 164 Ohe Street – UHM Parking Permit Holders Only
Limited uncovered parking spaces are available at the JABSOM Auxiliary Lot for UHM staff and students only who possess valid UHM parking permits (no parking fee necessary). No one else should be parking in this lot. The lot’s entrance is at off of Ilalo Street.
“Piano Lot” at 160 Ahui Street for Everyone
Additional uncovered parking is also available to anyone all week with the following daily rates (no in-and-out privileges). The entry is off Ohe Street:
Up to 2 hours: $2.00
2-10 hours: $3.00
10-24 hours: $5.00
Please be aware that there are numerous homeless residing in this area. There are also loose dogs that may approach. Please be aware of your surroundings, and do not hesitate to call 911 if necessary. Generally, Lot C is safer but anywhere you park is at your own risk.
Covered Parking at Gold Bond Building for Everyone
There may also be covered parking at the Gold Bond Building at 777 Ala Moana Blvd from Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.:
Every 30 minutes: $2.50
Daily Max: $40.00
Early Bird (in by 8:30 a.m.): $8.00
Note: Event rates supercede other rates.
Entry is off Coral Street.
Limited Street parking (metered and some free) are available around the School.
Most metered street parking near the Library is available from Mondays through Saturdays from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM (some streets only allow parking up until 3:30 PM) with the following meter rates:
4 minutes at 5 ¢
8 minutes at 10 ¢
20 minutes at 25 ¢
Please be prepared and bring coins if planning to use paid street parking. Also, please carefully read parking signs where you plan to park your vehicles.
Mopeds, Motorcycles & Bikes
Please park motorcycles and mopeds in the first two stalls in Lot B. Lot B is off of Keawe Street, between Lot C and the Biosciences Research Building (BSB). The lot is located on the makai side of the BSB. The stalls are located immediately on the right after entering the gate. Please do not try to enter or exit under the gate arms. The underground sensors are not sensitive enough for these smaller vehicles. Please maneuver around the ends of the gate arms to enter and exit the lot.
Bike racks are located outside the makai entrance to the MEB and the courtyard entrance to the BSB. There are bike racks also located in the courtyard side of the Cancer Center. Be sure to lock your bikes as thefts have occurred in the past.
Warning about Parking at Waterfront Park
As a reminder, please do NOT park in the Kaka‘ako Waterfront Parking lot which is reserved exclusively for park and the Children’s Museum users. Cars inappropriately parked there have and will be towed without warning.
